Purpose and Target and Method:
With “Positive Hotline Project for People Living with HIV”, it was aimed to reach both people living with HIV and people in close relation to them from all around Turkey as well as abroad and provide the necessary support and information.
Within the scope of this project, the availability of information was not only aimed to be provided to people living with HIV but also to people with suspicious contact. In this context, guiding people to both testing and, therefore, treatment was achieved for people infected with HIV that were not aware of their status.
The aim was to reach approximately 120 people each month, both to provide peer counselling to people living with HIV and to inform people with suspicious contact.
Our trilingual phone line, available in Turkish, English and French, was aimed to be open between 12:00-20:00 on weekdays and answered by our HIV expert peer counsellors.
Results:
Along the project, 646 consultations were made with 329 people living with HIV and, information about suspicious contact and guidance for testing was provided for 223 people, from August 2020-February 2021. In total, 878 consultations were made for 552 people.
